Basic Scenery Concepts
Using Maya and Photoshop I threw together these basic concepts for the film's scenery and visual look in around 2 hours . . .

We should utilise the effect of wide open spaces, preferably a fairly rough terrain, and have futuristic metropolis on the horizon.

The colours are not exactly spot on of how I feel the final production should look. The sky should probably be less harsh and the ground, a more dusty red.

One thing to consider. If we use cityscapes in the background, should they be undisturbed and feel like a typical everyday city or . . .

torn apart and in chaos? Just a thought.

The Visual Look - Colour Palette
Just threw a few colours together on a white background to test out a colour palette to help define the film's visual look . . .

I feel that vehicles and structures would look good if they were dark greys. This would go well against the dusty red feel of mars. Also some darker reds, even going towards magenta for the sky?

Mech Colour Scheme Ideas
Just a few ideas I came up with for the Mech's colour scheme . . .

I feel that the base colour should be a dark greyscale colour, almost black. The softer details should be highlighted by lighter greyscale colours but staying away from pure white as I think it would ruin the look. Think more mid-greys. The Mech needs to have the typical glowing lights. It just has to be done! I think ideally one colour would be fine, such as the bright light blue demonstrated above. If using two colours we don't want any clashes to occur. I've been trying to think what would work against the film's scenery. I think the light blue would work well against the browns, oranges and reds of the mars landscape.
